PMM Sustainable Schools Mission:
As a GS-42 Certified Green Seal Certified Janitorial and Facility Maintenance company, PMM recognizes that a school's physical environment may have a significant impact on children’s health and safety. PMM's Sustainable Schools program is designed to help improve the ability of schools to provide a safe and healthy environment for all those who use their facilities and reduce the carbon footprint of schools. In addition, our goal is to work with teachers, administrators and parents to help schools educate the next generation on the value of caring for the environment.

How Green Is My School?
The PMM Sustainable School Evaluation is a checklist that offers tips and resources to help schools identify opportunities to "green" their buildings and operations, ranging from the solid waste they generate, to the indoor environment they provide, to the energy and supplies they consume. This checklist focuses on common-sense improvements that schools can make in their daily operations that will minimize or stop potential health and environmental problems before they start. The environmental improvement strategies in this checklist have been organized into several categories, including:

Teaching Green!
PMM recognizes the important role of teachers and schools in creating the next generation of environmentally-aware citizens. Environmental education is critical to a Sustainable School initiative and programs of study that focus on the environment and sustainability should involve the children in "greening" their school.
The goal of the PMM Sustainable School Educational Material is to provide teachers and administrators with easy, hands-on material and resources to start helping children develop responsible environmental awareness in their quest to create a healthy, safe and environmentally-friendly learning environment.
